Project Laut diver conducting an underwater survey in Nusa Penida

World-class diving, personal support

Your safety is our number one priority.

The Coral Triangle

World-class diving.
A different world below.

Manta cleaning stations may be the island’s most famous attraction, but they are only part of the experience. Nusa Penida also offers thriving coral reefs, rich marine life including the famous Mola Mola, dolphins and turtles, drift dives, deeper blue-water sites and dramatic underwater terrain.

Nusa Penida sits close to the Wallace Line within the Coral Triangle. Nutrient-rich upwelling supports healthy coral growth, abundant fish life and encounters with some of the ocean's most remarkable species.

Specific sites depend on conditions and diver experience. Marine wildlife is wild, so sightings can never be guaranteed.

The experience behind your dive

An experienced team with clear accountability and safety as the highest priority.

Project Laut trains from beginner through to instructor level, with senior professionals overseeing the standards used across the team.

Who looks after you

The right professional for your dive.

If you are learning

An SSI Instructor teaches your skills, supervises your training and remains responsible for the course.

If you are already certified

A qualified instructor or divemaster leads the dive, manages the group and adapts the plan to the conditions.

Behind the dive team

At least two SSI Instructor Trainers develop professionals and help maintain the centre’s teaching and in-water standards.

For advanced development

Project Laut also holds Extended Range teaching expertise for divers progressing beyond recreational training.

Your assigned instructor or divemaster is matched to your package, experience and the conditions. Senior-team credentials show the depth of the organisation; they do not mean every guest is personally guided by an Instructor Trainer.

How they teach

Clear guidance.
Support centred on your safety.

Good diving comes from understanding what you are doing and feeling comfortable doing it. Project Laut prioritises control, awareness and genuine skill development—not simply getting through a checklist.

01

Personal attention

Smaller-group training creates more room for questions, direct feedback and support when something feels unfamiliar.

02

Skills before depth

Briefing, breathing, buoyancy and control come before progressing further into the dive or course.

03

Confidence through practice

Repetition and clear coaching turn unfamiliar skills into something calmer, more controlled and easier to repeat.

Your safety is our number one priority.

Dive with confidence

Safety is demonstrated in the details before every dive: qualified supervision, a clear plan, careful checks and equipment maintained to a dependable standard.

Qualified supervision

Every dive is led by an SSI-qualified instructor or divemaster, with the group and plan matched to certification, experience and conditions.

Safety checks before entry

The briefing covers the site, signals, entry, exit and emergency procedures. Equipment fit and function are checked before anyone enters the water.

Equipment quality and maintenance

Rental equipment is inspected, maintained and serviced on a regular schedule. Anything worn, leaking or not fitting correctly is addressed before the dive begins.

If conditions change

The safest plan
always wins.

Close to the Wallace Line and within the Coral Triangle, Nusa Penida brings rich biodiversity, strong reef systems and a remarkable meeting of marine species. It is a special place to dive, but it is not a controlled swimming pool.

Currents, thermoclines and changing site conditions require awareness, control and adaptability. Project Laut assesses the ocean on the day and changes the site, timing or plan when needed. A promised photo or wildlife sighting never comes before your safety.

That means your level, comfort and safety come before any single dive site. Briefings, equipment checks and in-water decisions are managed by professionals who know these waters and respect their variability.

First dive—or simply feeling nervous?

Tell us. Questions are welcome, and the team can talk you through each stage before you enter the water. You never need to pretend something feels comfortable when it does not.
