About The Hostel
A Jungle Oasis to relax, socialise and be part of a community
In the Heart of Nusa Penida’s tropical rainforest
Located in the vibrant heart of Nusa Penida, The Penida Project Hostel is a place of comfort, peace, and community. With plenty of sunshine and clear skies, it offers great views of lush forestry and peaceful tranquillity.
Our Journey
The journey began with four friends—Josh, Jordy, Sam, and Zach—who shared a passion for travel and creating memorable experiences. In 2019 we took a leap of faith and purchased our beautiful piece of land through a PT PMA- a foreign investment company. None of us had lived in Indonesia before so we begun to learn the language and start the design process. It was the first time for all of us tackling this type of project. We had no experience building or managing a hostel. Despite the risk we all shared a common vision and trusted in each other.
Two years of COVID only further fuelled our desire to make the dream become reality. Building officially commenced in August 2022 and thanks to our fantastic team of builders, construction was completed in one year. We were thrilled to open our doors in September 2023. What a journey it has been. For a full recap of the design and build journey, please visit our Instagram at @penidaproject.
